M&A-Report of the Life Science Industry 2018
We are pleased to present our latest M&A-report on the Life Science Industry in Europe prepared in collaboration with our European Globalscope partners. We assess the current trends in the European Life Science Industry, look at the recent corporate transactions in Europe and analyze the current valuation level.
The M&A-market in the Life Science Industry in Europe is still influenced by regulations on medical devices (MDR) and in-vitro diagnostics (IVDR). Furthermore, other political developments, such as the recent elections of the US congress and the tax reform carried out by president Trump, are likely to impact the European M&A-market over the coming months. In addition, technological changes have also a significant impact on corporate transactions.
Compared to previous years, the market for corporate transactions in the Life Science Industry remained stable. Out of the 850 for 2018 announced deals, more than half involved companies in the provider segment, emphasizing the trend toward consolidation and transformation in this segment. In the pharma segment, the overall transaction volume decreased. Nonetheless, industry trends, such as the reshaping of global pharma distribution and the increasing relevance of specialty pharma, will have a major impact on the industry over the coming years.
