Vertical Software and Managed Services in the Focus: 24 Transactions from July to September 2026

The Swiss software and IT services market recorded a total of 24 transactions involving Swiss target companies from July to September 2026. M&A activity was driven in particular by specialized vertical software companies and ongoing consolidation in managed services. At the same time, AI-driven business models and workflow automation businesses remain a focus for buyers. Carve-outs and strategic realignments are also creating additional opportunities for investors.
Both strategic buyers and financial investors are actively capitalizing on the current market environment. While Swiss investors remain an important group of buyers, international investor interest in Swiss software and IT services companies remains strong. We observed the transactions listed below between July and September 2026. Detailed information on the individual transactions can be found in the IFBC Tech Transactions Monitor – October 2026.

From a regional perspective, the Greater Zurich area, with nine transactions, remains the most important hub for tech M&A in Switzerland. The remaining transactions are spread across various Swiss technology clusters. The heatmap in the October Monitor therefore continues to show a clear concentration of M&A activity in established technology and business hubs.

Fabian Forrer, CFA, Partner and Sector Lead Technology, IFBC: “The Swiss tech M&A market remains attractive but is becoming more selective. Buyers are specifically seeking strategic value through technology, capabilities, and customer relationships. Significant consolidation potential remains, particularly in the managed services market.”
The buyer landscape also remains broad. In addition to Swiss investors, buyers from North America, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and other European countries were active in the third quarter. This underscores the continued international appeal of Swiss software and IT services companies.

The Swiss managed services market remains highly fragmented. Alongside a small number of large providers operating at a pan-European scale, there is a growing number of national mid-market platforms and a multitude of smaller, regional, and specialized providers. This market structure creates significant potential for further consolidation. Active buyers are pursuing three main strategies: achieving economies of scale by acquiring smaller regional managed services providers, expanding geographically to access new regions and customer groups, and acquiring capabilities to selectively add expertise to their existing service portfolios. For buyers, the fragmented market environment continues to offer opportunities to identify attractive target companies early and secure their capabilities and customer relationships. At the same time, acquisitions can help strengthen their competitive position over the long term in an increasingly consolidating market.
What Matters for Buyers Today?
The Swiss tech M&A market continues to offer attractive acquisition opportunities. Vertical software companies with specialized solutions and providers in AI and workflow automation are a particular focus. In the managed services market, the high degree of fragmentation creates additional opportunities for buy-and-build strategies. Through targeted acquisitions, buyers can achieve economies of scale, enter new regions, and expand their service offerings with complementary capabilities. At the same time, carve-outs and strategic portfolio streamlining create additional opportunities to acquire established technologies, customer relationships, and teams.
What Matters for Sellers Today?
The market environment continues to offer appealing exit opportunities for sellers. Companies with clear specialization, differentiated software solutions, or attractive capabilities in growth areas such as AI and automation are attracting active buyer interest. In managed services, ongoing consolidation is creating a broad pool of strategic buyers and financial investors. A structured sale process can capitalize on this competition, while also giving business owners the opportunity to assess strategic options from a position of strength.
